Convenience comes first. All Zero Motorcycles models are designed to charge without any additional equipment being installed in the home or garage. All that is required is a standard household outlet. Meaning, you can pretty much charge anywhere at any time. Depending on the model, each motorcycle uses between 650W – 1300W while charging (see the “Power System” section under each model for specific details).
One of the most frequently asked questions regarding electric motorcycles is “How long does it take to charge?” An often used and fun response to this question is “About five seconds.” Electric motorcycles do not fit everyone’s lifestyle. However, for many people, it will take about five seconds to plug in their motorcycle when they get home, to the office or to another frequented location. And, unlike gas stations, since these locations are not dedicated to just “filling up,” one can be working, socializing, playing or even sleeping while their motorcycle is recharging. Just like a mobile phone, riders can plug their Zero into any standard outlet. Consequently, for many individuals this means never needing to stop at the gas station or deviate from their desired route (unless drawn to a fun and twisty detour).

QUICK-CHARGE

Zero’s scalable “quick charge” system allows owners to add-on standalone chargers that will substantially reduce charge times. Each individual charger plugs into a standard household outlet and provides roughly one additional kWh of charge to the power pack every hour. Consequently, one Quick-Charge system could more than halve the charging time of a motorcycle. Visit any motorcycle’s specs page and look under “Power System” to determine how much time a quick charge system could save you.
Please keep in mind that most household electricity circuits are rated to 110V/15A, which can only support a single charger. As a result, in order to make use of Zero’s quick-charge accessories, you must plug each charger into a separate 110V/15A circuit. If connecting to any other, higher-rated household circuit, you must make sure it can safely support the load of each of Zero’s 1,200W input chargers.

POWER TANK

INSTALL ANY TIME. GO FARTHER.

The Z-Force® Power Tank adds an additional 2.8 kWh of power pack storage capacity to any 2015 Zero S, Zero SR or Zero DS model. An optional accessory, the Power Tank can be added at any time during or after the motorcycle is purchased. For example, if you purchase a 2015 Zero S ZF9.4 you could actually upgrade your motorcycle to have 12.2 kWh of power pack capacity years after you purchase your motorcycle. Alternatively, if you purchase a 2015 Zero S ZF12.5 you could upgrade your motorcycle to have 15.3 kWh of power pack capacity if you had a need for additional range. With that much energy storage capacity you can expect to travel up to 185 miles in the city or 94 miles on the highway.

The Power Tank comes complete with a Z-Force® power pack module as well as additional bodywork. It is recommended that you take your motorcycle to an authorized Zero Motorcycles dealer for installation. Once installed, the new bodywork includes a completely new tank section of the motorcycle with a newly designed plastic cover. The plastic cover and additional module occupy the area where the integrated tank bag would normally sit.

GET YOUR RIDE DIALED.

Customizing performance takes on new meaning with the Zero Motorcycles app. Not only does the app allow riders to view a real-time customizable dashboard, it also allows riders to actually change the performance characteristics of their motorcycle. Using Bluetooth-enabled iPhone and Android mobile devices, riders can adjust acceleration, top speed and regenerative braking to their exact specifications.
The app provides two fundamental interfaces. The riding interface can be customized to show real-time data and acts as a secondary, more detailed motorcycle dashboard. When parked, it provides riding statistics, motorcycle data, helps with any diagnostics and allows the rider to customize both the motorcycle performance and the riding dashboard.

One of the first questions that everyone asks about electric motorcycles is, unsurprisingly, “how far?” Zero Motorcycles offers an entire model line and each model and variation has a different range. At present, the longest range in the lineup goes to the Zero S ZF12.5 + Power Tank with 185 miles in the city. However, there are a number of options with lesser ranges that offer different benefits for those who only want a motorcycle for getting around town or the city. After all, selecting an electric motorcycle is all about making the best choice for your lifestyle.
To select the motorcycle that best meets your needs we recommend you see how far you typically ride in a day. Depending on how closely you watch your mileage the answer may surprise you. According to the US Department of Transportation, the average ‘driver’ travels about 13,476 miles per year. That breaks down to roughly 37 miles on average per day. Once you own a Zero, 37 miles will cost you a whopping .37¢ per day. Did we mention that there’s also no routine powertrain maintenance?

GET MODULAR.

Range is fundamentally dependent on the amount of kilowatt-hours (kWh) in the motorcycle’s power system. As you charge you increase the kWh in the power pack and, once fully charged, can achieve the maximum range of your motorcycle. As you ride electric you’ll find that every time you stop can be an opportunity to top up and go a bit farther. Zero offers several systems to quickly increase the potential range of each motorcycle.

ADD A SECOND MODULE:

The Zero FX uses modular power packs that allow you to add a second module to your power system that effectively doubles your potential range. You can also swap a discharged power pack for a fresh one in about sixty seconds.

USE A QUICK-CHARGER:
